What is the nearest tube station for the theatre?
Baker Street
Does the theatre have seats or do you sit on the ground?
The 1240-seat auditorium is exactly like a normal indoor theatre except that there is no roof. Every ticket-holder has an allocated seat (unless you buy a ticket for the grass banks on the day of the performance).
What should I wear?
You are welcome to dress as casually or as smartly as you like. The theatre and grounds are entirely outdoors, so please remember to come prepared for all weather and don’t forget sun cream if you are coming to a morning or afternoon performance. We also sell rugs, rain macs and caps.
Can I bring an umbrella?
Yes, but please refrain from using an umbrella during the performance.
Can I bring my own food and drink to the theatre?
Visit our Eating section for more details of all the food and drink available at the theatre, including pre-bookable picnics. Homemade picnics can be eaten in the gardens of Regent's Park or within the theatre grounds where space allows. Drinks may be taken into the auditorium but please be considerate of your fellow audience members and the performers. Please do not eat during the performance.
What time can I get in to the theatre grounds?
90 minutes before evening performances, one hour before 2.30pm matinees and 30 minutes before all other performances.
Why do the evening performances begin at 8.00pm?
This is to maximise the effectiveness of the on-stage lighting as the night draws in which adds to the magical ambiance of the evening.
If I come to the theatre on a bike, can I leave it outside the theatre?
No. If you're travelling by bike, you should bring it into the theatre grounds as the park gates are locked during the performance.
I have tickets for tonight’s performance but it is raining. Will the show be cancelled?
Please see our weather policy for full details.
I had tickets to a performance which was cancelled due to bad weather. How do I exchange my tickets?
Please see our weather policy for full details.
How often does a performance get cancelled or abandoned as a result of the weather?
On average, less than 9 performances out of over 150 performances each summer are cancelled or abandoned as a result of the weather. We make every effort to complete the performance though some may be interrupted by adverse weather. If the performance is cancelled or abandoned at any stage, our weather policy applies.
Is it possible to hire the theatre for private functions including weddings?
Please visit our Hiring section for more information.
I want specific seat numbers, can I do this online?
Yes. Our ticketing system enables you to choose specific seats online.
I need to organise my journey home, how will I know when the performance will finish?
The running time will always be less than three hours, but when an accurate production running time is established it will be put in the What’s On section.
Will there be taxis outside the theatre after the performance?
We can't guarantee there will be. To be certain you should book one or it's a short walk to Marylebone Road where you can often flag one down.
Is the theatre funded by Arts Council England or by local government?
The theatre receives no public subsidy and no revenue funding. As a registered charity we are a not-for-profit organisation. If you are interested in making a donation, please see here for more information.
